Scientists have been searching for a neutron EDM for more than 50
years. The limit has improved by roughly an order of magnitude
every eight years. In turn, this continually adds limitations
and constraints to new physical models. The image above shows some
of the different theories disproved by these experiments. Although
there are many orders of magnitude to go before these investiagtions
can put serious constraints on the Standard Model, many other models
-- including additional Higgs, various flavours of SUSY and so on
-- should be within the grasp of the cryogenic EDM experiment, which
is now under development.
